About Totnes
Totnes is a foodie heaven with several independent bakeries, butchers, fishmongers and greengrocers. The original Riverford Farm shop is on the high street (now called Ben’s Farm Shop). On the 3rd Sunday of the month it hosts Devon’s Good Food market with over 50 stalls. There are numerous cafes and restaurants for morning coffee, delightful lunches and delicious suppers.
There is plenty for families to enjoy within walking distance of St Maur Cottage. Take the boat trip from Totnes to Dartmouth or arrange a Kayaking lesson on the beautiful River Dart. Alternatively, catch the steam train from Totnes to Buckfastleigh which offers 7 miles of unrivalled beauty and a great day out. Further afield you can take the children to Paignton Zoo, Woodlands Theme Park, Pennywell Farm or one of the many lovely seaside towns of Torbay – all less than 30 minutes away by car.
Not to mention fabulous beaches (we can advise where to go to avoid the crowds) and spectacular walks on Dartmoor or the South West Coast Path. Totnes provides a perfect base to enjoy a memorable Devon holiday.
Pet free
Whilst many people love to take their dogs on holiday, there is a growing group of people looking for pet free accommodation and we are pleased to be able to provide a pet allergen free environment
